Scholarship Terms & Conditions
  1. The scholarship is offered strictly to full- time students at Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL).
  2. All scholarship packages published in Sunway Scholarships & Financial Aid brochure and Scholarship Website is only valid for 2024 intakes. It will be reviewed on yearly basis and subject to change. Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL) reserves the right to change the scholarship scheme and the terms and conditions at any point in time as and when Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL) deems necessary.
  3. Offer of scholarship will only be made when the Institution receives the actual results. (Academic Certificate validity is 2 years prior to joining Sunway University – year 2022/2023 except stated otherwise).
  4. For SPM/STPM 2022 & 2023 students, the 2 years Academic Certificate validity is referring to the actual result release date.
  5. The Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship can only be used for the first (1st) Pre-University/ Financial Courses/ Diploma/ ADTP programme. The recipient will not be eligible for the scholarship for subsequent Pre-University/ Financial Courses/ Diploma/ ADTP programmes with the same academic qualification.
  6. All scholarship packages are only applicable to the first (1st) Degree programme, students who are pursuing second (2nd) Degree/ ACCA/ ICAEW programm are not eligible for any of the Sunway scholarships
  7. The scholarships apply to the year of admission, and not the year of application.
  8. Subject(s) taken in any examination(s) after successful enrolment in Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL) will NOT be eligible for a higher scholarship quantum.
  9. Both 1119 (GCE-O) and SPM Principles of Accounting Dual Certification (LCCI) will not be considered when granting the scholarship.
  10. Students who has credit transfer/exemptions will not be eligible for Scholarship.
  11. The scholarship quantum awarded is in the form of tuition fee deduction; it is not a cash award. In the event where the scholarship amount awarded is more than the tuition fee payable of the year, the recipient will be awarded up to a maximum tuition fees payable for the year only. The balance of scholarship quantum is not transferable to/for any other type of fee payment nor refundable in cash.
  12. The scholarship ONLY covers tuition fee deduction in subjects enrolled for the first time (first attempt), NOT for the ‘repeat’ subjects.
  13. The schedule of general fees must be paid as and when required, in accordance to Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL)’s policy on enrolment and fees.
  14. For students who are eligible for several forms of discount by Sunway Education Group or Sunway Group (e.g. Staff Discount, Sibling Discount, others), the scholarship awarded will be applicable on the net balance of the tuition fee payable after the deduction of the relevant discount/ bursary.
  15. Scholarship recipients shall communicate with the staff from Scholarship Unit at Student LIFE pertaining to the changes of the programme status, including programme transfers, deferment, suspension of studies, etc. Approval of the scholarship after the programme status changed is subject decision of the Scholarship Committee after reviewing the supporting documents submitted.
  16. In the event that the recipient transfer/ withdraws from the programme, is suspended or terminated by Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL) at any point of time, before the completion of the programme, the scholarship shall be automatically terminated. However, should the recipient withdraw from the programme due to medical reasons, his/ her scholarship may be retained, subject to the absolute discretion of Sunway University, and only after the recipient has provided adequate supporting medical documents acceptable to Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL).
  17. Should such a transfer/ withdrawal, termination or suspension occur, Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL) reserves the right to claim for the recovery of fees due, which are calculated on a pro rata basis. This is based on the valuable benefit received by the recipient.
  18. Should the recipient accept any other scholarship (of any amount), this scholarship will be terminated automatically. Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL) reserves the right to claim for the recovery of fees due, which are calculated on a pro rata basis. This is based on the valuable benefit received by the recipient.
  19. The duration of the scholarship is up to the completion of study period specified by Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL). No extensions are allowed.
  20. All scholars are encouraged to take part or assist in institution/school/programme event(s) as and when required by the School/Programme as well as the Scholarship Unit, Student LIFE.
  21. All scholars are automatically member of Sunway Student Ambassadors (SSA), do follow SSA social media accounts to participate in any meaningful events/activities organised by the SSA Committee: Facebook Page: Sunway Student Ambassadors Instagram: @sunwayssa
  22. In the event of a dispute on the eligibility for the scholarship, the decision made by the Sunway Scholarship Committee is final.
  23. Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL) reserves the right to alter, add or delete any of the terms and conditions and scholarship scheme at any point of time as and when Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL) deems necessary.
  24. Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL) reserves the right to involve the scholarship recipients in interviews, advertisements, photography or other publicity related activities for the purpose of promoting the educational institution.
  25. Non-compliance to any of the terms and conditions related to the relevant scholarship would result to a breach of contract.

A. For Pre-University/ Sunway Foundations/ Professional Accounting Programmes

  1. Progression students from Sunway International School who are receiving this scholarship are not eligible for the 10% Sunway Pals bursary.
  2. The scholarship is offered strictly to full time registered students of Sunway College (KL) upon settlement of the first semester fees. It is mandatory that the recipient completes the entire duration of the course.
  3. Special Scholarship recipients may apply to convert the scholarship to a higher quantum on the Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship. Scholarship funds which are already utilized in the Special Scholarship will be considered as part of the Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship. Therefore, recipients will only be eligible to receive the remaining surplus of funds available on the higher scholarship. Balance of fees is to be paid by the recipients.
  4. Disbursement of scholarship :
    1. 1-year programme. The disbursement of scholarship will be implemented in the 2nd semester of the programme.
    2. 1.5-year programme. The disbursement of scholarship will be distributed in equal amount between 2nd semester and 3rd semester of the programme. For full scholars, any reimbursement applicable will be made upon successful completion of the programme.
    3. Full scholars need not make further semester tuition fee payments upon securing the scholarship. Any excess amount paid in the first semester will be reimbursed upon successful completion of the programme.
  5. Tuition fee deduction for full scholars applies as the following:
    1. Australian Matriculation (5 subjects tuition fee)
    2. A-Level (up to maximum 4 subjects tuition fee)
    3. Canadian International Matriculation Programme (6 subjects tuition fee)
    4. Monash University Foundation Year (8 units tuition fee)
    5. Sunway Foundation in Arts (6 Core Units, 4 Academic Elective, 3 Enrichment Units)
    6. Sunway Foundation in Science & Technology (4 Core Units, 6 Academic Elective, 3 Enrichment Units)

B. For Diploma Programmes

  1. The scholarship is offered strictly to full time registered students of Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL) upon settlement of the first semester fees. It is mandatory that the recipient completes the entire duration of the course.
  2. The scholarship will be implemented in the 2nd semester of the programme.
  3. Full scholars need not to make further semester tuition fee payments until the full utilisation of the total 1st year tuition fee.
  4. Full scholars upon utilising the total of 1st year tuition fee, will continue fee payments for the remaining semesters.

C. For Degree Programmes

  1. The disbursement of scholarship :
    1. The disbursement of scholarship will be distributed in equal amount between the first two semesters of the programme. Balance of the scholarship will be deducted from the 3rd semester’s tuition fees payable for the year (Applicable to the Degree programmes with 3 semesters in an academic year).
    2. For 3.5 years programme – the disbursement of scholarship for the final year (half year duration) is half of the yearly quantum entitlement. This is subject to recipient meeting the minimum grades to continue the scholarship.
  2. For UEC scholars
    1. Points are calculated based on best 5 subjects.
  3. Scholars must maintain the following minimum grades as part of the criteria to continue the scholarship:
    1. Scholars on RM6,000 scholarship must meet a minimum of CGPA3.25 yearly (for Sunway University, and Lancaster University affiliation programmes) / 60% grade average yearly (for Victoria University programme)
    2. Scholars on RM11,000 scholarship must meet a minimum of CGPA3.45 yearly (for Sunway University, and Lancaster University affiliation programmes) / 65% grade average yearly (for Victoria University programme).
  4. The Scholarship CGPA calculation method varies from the “CGPA” on Izone’s Examination Results/ Progress Report. Re-sit/ Repeat result is excluded from the Scholarship CGPA calculation.
  5. Below subjects will not be considered for scholarship CGPA calculation:
    a. Malay Language for Communication
    b. Appreciation of Ethics and Civilization/Penghayatan Etika dan Peradaban
    c. Falsafah dan Isu Semasa
    d. Bahasa Kebangsaan
    e. Malaysian Studies/Pengajian Malaysia
    f. Moral Education
    g. Islamic Studies h. Islamic and Asian Civilization
    i. Internship
    j. Work Placement
    k. Community Service/ Community Project
  6. There shall be no upgrading of scholarships.
  7. A recipient who applies for the programme Transfer may retain his/ her scholarship provided that the new programme does not extend the duration of the scholarship. Scholarship funds which are already utilized will not be applied to the new programme. Any balance of fees is to be paid by the recipient. Recipients are required to submit a copy of the Programme Transfer Form to Student LIFE upon transfer being made.

D. For American Degree Transfer Program

  1. The scholarship is offered strictly to full time registered students of Sunway University upon settlement of the first semester fees. It is mandatory that the recipient completes the entire duration of the course.
  2. The scholarship will be implemented from the 2nd semester of the programme until the full utilisation of the scholarship amount granted. Scholars upon utilising of the total amount granted shall continue to make payments on the remaining billable amounts.
  3. Full scholarship need not to make further semester tuition fee payments until the full utilisation of the total 30 credit hours tuition fee. Scholars upon utilising the total of the 30 credit hours tuition fee will continue tuition fee payments for the remaining semesters.
  1. Students receiving this scholarship are not eligible for the 10% Sunway PALS Loyalty Bursary.
  2. This scholarship is only available to Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL) students (Malaysian & international) who have completed either a Pre-University, Diploma or Foundation programme with Sunway University/Sunway College (Kuala Lumpur), Sunway College (JB), Sunway College (Ipoh) or Sunway College (Kuching).
  3. For ADTP Scholars:
    1. The scholarship will only be offered from semester 4 onwards upon completion of the first two years in Sunway ADTP programme
  4. Disbursement of scholarship:
    1. The disbursement of scholarship will be distributed in equal amount between the first two semesters of the programme. Balance of the scholarship will be deducted from the 3rd semester’s tuition fees payable for the year (Applicable to the Degree programmes with 3 semesters in an academic year).
    2. For 3.5 years programme – the disbursement of scholarship for the final year (half year duration) is half of the yearly quantum entitlement. This is subject to recipient meeting the minimum grades to continue the scholarship.

    3. Scholars on RM13,000 scholarship must meet a minimum of CGPA 3.65 yearly (for Sunway University, and Lancaster University affiliation programmes)/ 70% grade average yearly (for Victoria University programme).

  4. The terms and manner in which the scholarship is disbursed will be decided by Sunway University and Lancaster University. All decisions made by the joint Sunway University – Lancaster University Scholarship Committee are final.

  4. The terms and manner in which the scholarship is disbursed will be decided by Sunway University and Victoria University. All decisions made by the joint Sunway University – Victoria University Scholarship Committee are final.
  1. Only Malaysian citizens are eligible to apply.
  2. Scholarship offered is based on Academic Certificate validity 1 year prior to joining Sunway College (KL) – year 2023.
  3. The scholarship is offered strictly to full time registered students of Sunway College (KL) upon settlement of the first semester fees. It is mandatory that the recipient completes the entire duration of the course.
  4. The scholarship recipient need not make further semester tuition fee payments upon securing the scholarship.
    4(a) For Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB) programme, any excess amount paid in the first semester will be reimbursed upon successful completion of the Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB) programme.
    4(a)(i) It is mandatory for the recipient to register with Sunway College (KL) for all 3 Advanced Level Modules, failing which, the Scholarship shall be automatically terminated. Should such a termination, Sunway College (KL) reserves the right to claim for the recovery of tuition fees due, which are calculated on a pro rata basis. This is based on the valuable benefit received by the recipient.

    4(b) For The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) programme, any excess amount paid in the first semester will be reimbursed upon successful completion of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) programme.
  5. Offer of scholarship will be made only when Sunway College (KL) receives the actual results.
  6. The terms and manner in which the scholarship is disbursed will be decided by Sunway College (KL). All decisions made by the Sunway College Scholarship Committee are final.
  1. Only Malaysian citizens are eligible to apply.
  2. Scholarship offered is based on Academic Certificate validity 1 year prior to joining Sunway College (KL) – year 2023.
  3. The scholarship is offered strictly to full time registered students of Sunway College (KL) upon settlement of the first semester fees. It is mandatory that the recipient completes the entire duration of the course.
  4. The scholarship recipient need not make further semester tuition fee payments upon securing the scholarship.
         4(a) ACCA Foundation in Accountancy (ACCA-FIA) programme, any excess amount paid in the first semester will be reimbursed upon successful completion of the ACCA Foundation in Accountancy (ACCA-FIA) programme.
         4(b) For Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) programme, any excess amount paid in the first semester will be reimbursed upon successful completion of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) programme.

  1. Applicant can be Malaysian or International citizen.
  2. Applicant can only be entitled for 1 scholarship or bursary at a time whichever is higher.
  3. The scholarship will be implemented from the 1st semester of the programme.

Scholars are required to participate in the group counselling session, talk, workshop and meeting specially designed for all scholarship recipients and assist in the projects run by the Welfare Unit, Student LIFE and Sunway Student Ambassadors (SSA) as part of the contribution to Sunway University and the campus community.
  4. Scholars are required to submit a copy of the academic progress report to the Scholarship Unit at Student LIFE upon the release of results at the end of every semester.
  1. Only Malaysian citizens are eligible to apply.
  2. Scholars are required to maintain satisfactory academic results throughout the duration of the study.
  3. Scholars are required to participate in the Scholars Development Programme (#ScholarsLevelUp).
  4. Scholars are required to submit a copy of the academic progress report to the Scholarship Unit at Student LIFE upon the release of results at the end of every semester.
  1. Only Malaysian citizens are eligible to apply.
  2. Scholars are required to maintain satisfactory academic results throughout the duration of the study.
  3. Scholars are required to participate in the Scholars Development Programme (#ScholarsLevelUp).
  4. Scholars are required to submit a copy of the academic progress report to the Scholarship Unit at Student LIFE upon the release of results at the end of every semester.
  1. Only Malaysian citizens are eligible to apply.
  2. KPT (Kementerian Pendididkan Tinggi) scholar is not eligible to apply the Sunway Sports Scholarship.
  3. The disbursement of Scholarship will be implemented in the second semester of the programme. Any excess amount paid in the first semester will be reimbursed upon successful completion of the programme.
  4. The tuition fee deduction for scholars applies as follows:-
    1. Australian Matriculation (5 subjects’ tuition fee)
    2. A-Levels (3 subjects’ tuition fee)
    3. Canadian International Matriculation Programme (6 subjects’ tuition fee)
    4. Monash University Foundation Year (8 units’ tuition fee)
    5. Sunway Foundation in Arts (6 Core Units, 4 Academic Elective, 3 Enrichment Units)
    6. Sunway Foundation in Science & Technology (4 Core Units, 6 Academic Elective, 3 Enrichment Units)
  5. Scholars should at least pass with minimum grade required by the respective programme and maintain his/her sports achievement at State and National level.
  6. Scholars MUST represent the Institution in MASISWA, SUKIPT and IPT games or any other tournaments as and when required by the Institution.
  7. A minimum of 80 hours should be contributed yearly for conducting sports training, workshop, clinical work etc (exclude training/ competition hours). Do approach the Sports Advisors at Student LIFE for further details.
  8. The Sports Scholarship is reviewed on a yearly basis. Scholarships can be revoked based on the discretion of the institution.
  9. The Scholarship awarded is subject to renew on yearly basis. Recipients are required to submit the renewal application via iZone platform in order to renew the scholarship.
  10. Recipients are required to submit a copy of the quarterly report to Sunway Sports Unit
  11. The final decision to grant the scholarship is at the sole discretion of the selection panel.
  12. If an applicant’s chosen sport is not part of the List of Sports for the Sunway Sports Scholarship, it will then fall under the discretion of Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL) scholarship committee to accept the application and/ or to grant an interview.
  1. Applicant can be Malaysian or International citizen.
  2. The disbursement of the Scholarship will be implemented in the second semester of the programme. Any excess amount pain in the first semester will be reimbursed upon successful completion of the programme.
  3. It is compulsory for the scholar to perform minimum of 6 scheduled performances a year with music groups or as soloists in events orgranised by the School of Arts, to include the possibility of special events for the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation.
  4. Recipients are required to reapply for the continuation of scholarship through Student LIFE on a yearly basis. The continuity is reviewed subject to meeting the terms set by institution:
    a) Scholar must maintain an overall average of 60% in academic grade
    b) Scholar must demonstrate leadership in the assigned ensemble(s)
    c) Scholar must exhibit yearly progress in performance, as evaluated by music lecturers in the School of Arts
  1. Applicant can be Malaysian or International citizen.
  2. Disbursement of scholarship will be implemented in the 1st semester of the programme.
  3. Scholars must perform at least 3 scheduled performances per year with music groups in the School of Arts.
  4. The continuity is reviewed on yearly basis subject to meeting the terms set by the institution:-
    1. Scholar must maintain an overall average of 60% in academic grade
    2. Scholar must demonstrate leadership in the assigned ensemble(s)
  5. To renew, scholars are required to reapply for the continuation of the scholarship through Student LIFE on a yearly basis.
  1. Applicant can be Malaysian or International citizen.
  2. Disbursement of scholarship will be implemented in the 1st semester of the programme.
  3. The scholarship is subjected to review at the end of every semester. Recipients should strive to pass all subjects at first attempt in order to maintain the scholarship status.
  4. Recipients are required to participate in the following activities:/\
    1. Assist and provide support in School of Arts, Department of Art and Design’s events
    2. Assist and provide support in the Giving Project organise by Student LIFE
  1. Applicant can be Malaysian or International citizen.
  2. The disbursement of the Scholarship will be implemented in the 1st semester of the programme.
  3. Applicant must not have gone through or currently taking any formal culinary course(s) at Sunway University or other institution.
  4. The scholarship is subjected to review at the end of every semester. Recipient should strive to maintain CGPA 3.00 average in order to maintain the scholarship status.
  5. Recipient is required to participate, assist and provide support to the School of Hospitality and Service Management’s events/activities.
  1. Applicant can be Malaysian or International citizen.
  2. The disbursement of the Scholarship will be implemented in the 1st semester of the programme.
  3. The scholarship is subjected to review at the end of every semester. Recipients should strive to pass all subjects at first attempt in order to maintain the scholarship status.
  4. Recipients are required to participate in the following activities:
    1. Assist and provide support in Fashion Design Technology Hub’s events
    2. Be the ambassadors for the SEG Open Day to promote Diploma in Fashion Design Technology programme.
  1. Applicants must be registered as Sunway University/ Sunway College (KL) students.
  2. Not applicable to government sponsored, corporate sponsored or Language programmes students.
  3. Offer of discount will only be made when the Institution receives the following documented proof: (i) Sibling Discount
    1. Certified photocopies of Birth Certificates for both siblings;
    2. Certified photocopies of Completion Certificate, Academic Transcripts or Current Student ID Card from Sunway University of a sibling. (ii) Parent Alumni Discount
    3. Certified photocopies of Birth Certificate for student to be enrolled
    4. Certified photocopies of Sunway University’s Alumni
  4. The discount is in the form of deduction from tuition fee. It shall not be deducted from any general, registration, application or exam fees.
  5. This discount is not applicable to SIS progression students who have utilised the sibling discount when joining Sunway International School.
  6. This discount is provided as a “One Time Off Deduction” for new registrants only. It will not be valid for returning, repeating or continuing students.
  7. The final decision to grant the discount is at the sole discretion of the Admissions Office of Sunway University.
  8. This discount is valid for all Malaysians and International students.
