"My interest in bowling started at a young age and I joined the Sukan Teras programme when I was 9 years old. Things were not easy as I had to constantly juggle between school work and practice. My usual routine consisted of school, bowling practice, tuition, completing homework and repeat. However, my hard work paid off when I won my first gold medal in MSSM 2010 in Melaka!
When I was in Form 5, I applied for the Sunway Special Scholarship and decided to put my bowling days behind me. #MySunwayStory began when the sports department contacted me to apply for the Sunway Sports Scholarship instead. Apart from covering the tuition fees, being able to bowl as part of the scholarship was the icing on the cake for me. This scholarship not only helped reduce my parents’ financial burden but allowed me to continue bowling; my passion.
I am now proud to be a part of #TeamSunway that hosts national-level Elite players and to have contributed a Gold (Team) and a Silver (Master’s) medal event in the 2016 SUKIPT competition. Without the scholarship, I would have given up on bowling entirely to study. I know now that in life, not everything will go according to plan but bear in mind that if plan A doesn’t work, there is always 25 more alphabets! So, never stop hoping and always look for the silver lining." - Nur Ameerahusna Binti Aznel, ACCA
