“I faced a lot of challenges while pursuing my studies, they were mainly financial woes. My father earned a low salary which did not make it possible for me to have a comfortable environment to study in.

I always wanted to go for tuition classes but my father could not afford to pay the fees. Hence, I studied on my own, which resulted in average marks in my exams. However, Agathians shelter reduced my father’s burden by supporting my studies until I completed my secondary schooling.

They also introduced me to the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation Community Scholarship. My ambition is to become a software engineer in the networking field.

#MySunwayStory made a huge difference to my family as tertiary education such as a Diploma and Degree program required a lot of money, of which my father could not afford. Hence, this scholarship, reduced my family’s burden to a large extent.

My proudest achievement so far is having created my own mobile application, which enables users to send data in a secure manner. I did this as part of my Final Year Project.

My experience in Sunway University has been made richer by the conducive environment, friendly people and equal opportunities afforded to everyone regardless of race or family background. Additionally, the lecturers are very proactive and enthusiastic when it comes to teaching.

To all the new scholars, acquire education, because education gives us an opportunity to compete and prevail in this challenging and ever-changing world.”
