Sumithra Visvanathan

"#MySunwayStory began in 1988, when Sunway College was in Jalan Selangor in Petaling Jaya. When I first stepped foot on campus, I immediately noticed the welcoming environment, and how rich the student life was. That set the tone for the rest of my degree education.

At Sunway, my worldview developed in ways that are meaningful to me as a person and in my work. It was then that I had the opportunity to publish a law journal, the Sunway-Leicester Law Review, as a first-year student.

If I had not been offered the Sunway-Leicester Scholarship, I would likely not have had the privilege to study law, discover the path towards learning refugee law, complete a dissertation in the subject, and subsequently have a meaningful 16-year career around the globe with the UN’s Refugee Agency, the UNHCR."
