“I have a complex family background. My parents are divorced and both my biological father and step-mother passed away 2 years ago due to illnesses. My childhood has been littered with ups and downs, although I hated it then, I’ve learned and grown because of it.

I miss the care I received from my father and vowed to study hard to decrease his burden. During my STPM, I had to miss classes to take care of my sick parents while dealing with financial issues.

I had no hope of furthering my studies until my online research started #MySunwayStory and I found out about the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation Community Scholarship. Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah, is my biggest inspiration as if it was not for his vision, I would have been working for the rest of my life.

My time in Sunway has expanded my network to include even external parties from Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, Lancaster and so on due to the varied experiences it provides. This has helped me improve my English proficiency which I believe will come in handy one day. The multicultural student population, facilities and environment is an added plus as well.

To all new scholars, be yourself and enjoy your life while you still can in this prestigious institution. Expand your network and make some friends.”
