“As I was just about to sit for my STPM examinations, my father fell ill and my family was under a lot of family financial crisis. He passed away just as I was getting my results. Being the eldest in my family, I took on the responsibility of being the breadwinner of my family by working two jobs and to put my sister through college.

The thought of continuing studies never crossed my mind at that moment. My hard work paid off when my sister graduated and offered to support my studies in turn.At the age of 26, I began #MySunwayStory with the help of the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation Scholarship and Malaysian Care.

At a time where my circumstances had caused me to stop dreaming, my life took an unexpected turn for the better and here I am enjoying my life as a student, a stepping stone to greater heights. My love for people and hospitality influenced my choice of pursuing Sunway University’s Diploma in Hotel Management.

I enjoy my practical in the training restaurant, my lectures and discovering new talents in various classes. Slowly but surely, I built my confidence again. I’ve learned so much in Sunway that has already begun to change my life. As long as you believe you can achieve something and put your heart to it, you will be able to succeed. So, never give up on your dreams no matter how hard it gets or how old you get. 😉"
