“My music journey began at a young age of 5 and when I entered secondary school, I joined the school band to develop my talents further. As part of the marching band, we had to march under the blistering sun up to 6 hours a day in a field full of mud with our instruments. It was tough, but for the love of music we persevered on. Our hard work paid off with 2nd place in the district level marching competition. Although we did not get 1st place, we learnt that at the end of the day, it is the moments in the journey we go through together that is more important. Just like that, #MySunwayStory for the past 4 years has been made up of many memorable, and exciting moments.

As part of my music scholarship for ACCA, I served in the Sunway University Ensemble. During my journey with the ensemble, I performed in the Selangor Philharmonic Orchestra, served them as President in 2015 and organized two days of recitals (back to back) which were both sold out within 10 days! We performed at the graduation ceremony, property launches outside of Sunway University and shared the stage with other prominent performers in the 4th Southeast Asia Symposium and with Harvard scholars in Krokodiloes: The World Tour.

Besides this, Sunway opened up many other opportunities for me such as the Deloitte Risk Challenge, Chinese Public Speaking Competition & CFA Research Challenge which I also participated in. More recently I performed the clarinet as a soloist in the Sunway University Ensemble Recital: Evolution of Pop.

Without this opportunity from Sunway, my life would be filled with all studies and no music; definitely a lot less colourful then it is now. In contrary to YOLO, I believe that you live every day, but you die only once. So make it count and live your life to the fullest fuelled by your passion!”
